as seen at freshmeat, improvements include "Added keybindings, page numbering, Etext title display and the shell of searching functionality. Sorry, searching will be in the next release. Also using make for building the tarball, installing and uninstalling." more available at Gutenbook site...
as seen at freshmeat: "Etext string searches are now working. Added CREDITS, MANUAL files. Cleaned up the Makefile. Refined the keybindings. Init method looks for .gutenbook and Gutenberg_Library directories; makes them if they don't exist. This in preparation for implementing user preferences UI and saving etexts locally." all this and more available at the Gutenbook site.
as seen at the new gutenbook.org site: "A whole heap of enhancements and features... Implemented page searching; Implemented user preferences and preference interface (note that cached index auto-update is currently disabled); Bound key "p" to preferences interface, "Ctrl-p" to page search; Implemented local index caching; Cached index represents local etext presence; Implemented etext auto-save feature; Implemented etext read-local feature." Most definitely appreciate the shouts, too. :)
from freshmeat: "HTTP proxy support, fixed/improved index caching, library column sorting, library position retention for selected Etexts, and a local cache auto-update implementation have been added. The Gutenberg index format (pgwhole.zip) is now used. Please remove your .gutenbook/preferences file when you upgrade Gutenbook; your preferences will not be read/set correctly unless you remove this file." Go Lefty go... for more see the Gutenbook site.
from gutenbook.org: "Added GNU GPL copyleft statements to all files. Fixed a couple minor bugs (example: opening a file and not actually selecting a file no longer instantiates an empty Etext object). Implemented a GtkNotebook for the library window such that each tab represents an alphabetical range of sorted Etext titles. Added a label to the library to indicate number of titles in range and total titles in index. Selecting/downloading an Etext now leaves that selected row visible in the GtkCList."
as seen at freshmeat: "Fixes for the broken column sorting, a minor fix in the Etext grabbing code to account for inaccuracies in the Index, sorting code optimizations for the Library Browser, and a separate column in the Index indicating if the work is under copyright." all this and more at gutenbook.org...
as seen at freshmeat: "This release adds a column to the library browser indicating whether a work is still under copyright, fixes to compensate for the library index file not being up-to-date with available etexts (a tweaked regex pattern matching on etext filenames), and other feature additions and minor modifications." For more see www.gutenbook.org.
as seen at freshmeat: "User interface changes, including early support for variable window sizes, smoother pagination, etc. Executable renamed from gutenbook.pl to gutenbook." see gutenbook.org for more.
as seen at freshmeat: "mod_litbook is an experiment in web page referencing whereby portions of a much larger document can be referenced and retrieved (e.g., the King James Bible)." The author further describes it as combining influences from Jakob Nielsen, Xanadu tumblers, and Zope. Links to all and a demo based on the bible are available at the mod_litbook site.
